Where Is Your Nose?

Happy New Year and welcome back to our page! As we start the new year, we want to start a new series that we know your little one will love.

Whenever we play with children, we often ask, “Where is your…?” Then, we expect them to point to their ears, their nose, their mouth etc. Well, did you know that we can use that to help children learn bible verses?

In the Where Is series, we will ask you to ask your child to point to a specific part of the body. When they point out that part of the body, you will state a coordinating Bible verse that we will provide to you.

Each week, we will add a new part of the body and scripture until the series end. Even if your child cannot speak yet, we want you to do these exercises. You are the hands and the eyes for them. Point to the part of the body and state the bible verse. Carry the child around the room and point. If they cannot see, use their hand to help them feel their mouth, their eyes, their ears, etc.

Are you ready to get started? Great! Let’s go!

Lesson Focus

The nose

Then the Lord God took dust from the ground and made a man. He breathed the breath of life into the man’s nose, and the man became a living thing.  Genesis 2:7 ERV

Children need to know that life came from God.

How to Execute the Lesson

You (to child): Where is your nose?  Can you point to it?

*Child points (If they cannot point, you point or help them feel it.)

You: There it is! Did you know that God gave us life? Genesis 2:7 says, “Then the Lord God took dust from the ground and made a man. He breathed the breath of life into the man’s nose, and the man became a living thing.”

Throughout the week, continuously ask your child to point out the nose on themselves, on other people, and in pictures, followed by the scripture and explanation.  By the end of the week, we want their ears to pique because they will know that that scripture coordinates with a certain part of the body, and if they are able, they will start saying the scripture with you. As a bonus, enjoy the coloring sheet from CCE Contributor and Illustrator Jack Foster. In the picture, we see Adam, the first man, receiving the breath of life from God.
