Welcome to the final week in our Where Is series. In our previous session, we focused on the hand and shared Psalm 134:2, “Lift up your hands to the holy place and bless the Lord!” We learned that it is important to joyfully lift our hands in worship and praise to God. When we lift our hands in worship and praise to God, we remember who He is, and it says thank you for His many blessings. This week, we are sharing a new focus and scripture. Are you ready? Let’s get started.
How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” Romans 10:14-15 ESV
It is so important that we learn our mission in life. Children love to stomp around and make footprints with their feet, but it is very important that they learn to leave footprints of God’s Word on people’s hearts. We are to go out and tell the world, those we know and others, about God, Jesus Christ, and what they have done for us. When we do so, God sees our feet as beautiful because we are spreading the gospel, the good news.
How to Execute the Lesson
You (to child): Where is your foot? Can you point to it?
*Child points (If they cannot point, you point or help them feel it.)
You: There it is! Did you know that it is important that we use our feet to go and tell the world about God and his son Jesus Christ? Romans 10:14-15 says, “How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!’’ When you go and tell people about God, his son Jesus Christ, and what they have done, you are fulfilling the mission God created you to complete. You are sharing the good news that God sent his son Jesus Christ to save us. Jesus died on the cross for us, was buried, and rose three days later. Now, all have an opportunity to be with God one day. Share this news, and let your feet become beautiful.
Throughout the week, continuously ask your child to point to their foot, other people’s feet, and pictures of feet followed by the scripture and explanation. By the end of the week, we want their ears to pique because they will know that that scripture coordinates with a certain part of the body, and if they are able, they will start saying the scripture with you. As a bonus, enjoy the coloring sheet from CCE Contributor and Illustrator Jack Foster. In the picture, we see a child making footprints. Be sure to leave footprints of the good news on people’s hearts.
