The story of Jonah (Jonah 1) is about a man that was asked by God to preach his word in a town called Nineveh. Instead of doing what God asked him to do, he tried to flee to Tarshish on a ship. A raging storm broke out, he was tossed out of the ship by the other shipmates, and then, he was swallowed by a large fish. The raging storm and being swallowed by the large fish were because Jonah disobeyed God. Jonah was in the belly of the fish for three days and nights.
It’s very important to obey what God’s word says. When we disobey God, it displeases him. Also, when we disobey Him, we only hurt ourselves. God only wants what is best for us and He would never ask us to do something that would hurt us. He loves us very much. Say it out loud, “God loves me and would never hurt me.” What are some ways that disobeying God can hurt us? What are some things we can do that will help us continue to obey God?
